The myth of the Loch Ness Monster

The story arrived from our friend Melanie, teacher at St.Oswald's School, Glasgow Scotland. Melanie took part in Preparatory Visit in Przemyśl in January 2010.

We went to St. Columbus Church in Glasgow. At the Church, people have painted a mural of the story of St. Columbus and the monster…..

St. Columba and The Water Beastie

In the year 563 B.C. an Irish monk called Columba arrived with 12 companions on Iona, an island off the coast of Scotland.
The Picts who lived in the northern part of Britain were ferocious.
Columba and his companions set out on a dangerous journey to Inverness and Skye to talk to these people.
Once Columba and his monks had to cross the River Ness. When they reached its shore they were told of a water beast that attacked anyone who swam there. Sure enough, the beast appeared when one of his men swam across. Everyone froze in terror.
Columba made the sign of the cross and said”Do not touch the man. Go back at once.” The Beast fled under the water in terror at the sound of the Saints voice.
