First week of a new school year was very special for 3 teachers and 5 pupils from Szkoła Podstawowa nr 11 in Przemyśl. We had a chance to meet our Comenius partners in Rāmuļi near Cēsis, Latvia. We all met in Riga - a beautiful capital of Latvia. Thanks to Ieava, Inese and Martin we could learn about history and present of this former Hanseatic city. For us Polish it was specialy interesting to see Latvijas Universitāte where our famous general Władysław Anders studied in 1911-1914. Living about 700km from the sea no wonder we enjoyed plashing in the sea water on the beach of Saulkrasti. Cesis was a lovely town and we did sightseeing in the castle and had a nice rest in Gauja National Park.At school we were warmly welcomed by a new headmistress Ija Brammane and we met teachers and pupils, watched classes, the concert of folk dancing and songs and took part in art workshop. At the Town Hall we met Chairman of the Cesis Local Municipality Council Mr Gints Šķenders and local education authorities. It was interesting to see Secret Soviet Bunker in Ligatne and lovely situated castle and town of Sigulda. At the Comenius meeting we talked about plans of actions, activities and meetings.
Our pupils made lots of new friends, loved Latvia and didn`t want to come back.It was a wonderful lesson of languages, history, art, geography, communication and understanding.
